Background

Give a biography of…

   ·         … their childhood:

Edric was born in a wealthy trader family in Cheshire, England. He's the second born child in series of four, and seemed to never be able to please his parents or grandparents, who lived in the same mansion. What he did was never good enough. He didn't only live in the shade of his elder brother, who would inherit the title as head of the family and took on his needed responsibilities, but also in that of his younger sister, who acted like the perfect daughter any parent would wish for. His youngest brother was your typical spoiled brat who got everything he wanted.

   ·         … their teen years:

To stay away from home, where he was essentially ignored, he hung out in the city a lot, where he enjoyed playing with the kids in the neighborhood. These kids weren't really the kind of kids a highborn child should hang out with, but his parents, who were into trading, had better things to do than figuring out what their failed child was doing all day.

It was in those teen years, with those same kids, he discovered his talent and love for stealing. It's not that he needed to steal anything for survival, he just did it because of the thrill of the moment, and because he didn't have anything better to do.

It wasn't rare that he was caught doing so though, and the shame he brought over his family was great.

   ·         … their young adult years:

He disconnected more and more with his parents and brothers, and the times he didn't return for the night grew in number. He discovered he didn't need them to be happy, and permanently stopped trying to please his parents. With that, an enormous weight was lifted from his shoulders, and he was actually able to enjoy life to the fullest. The only person he still connected to was Eda, his sister, who admired him for his rebellious nature.

Over the years, she'd turned bitter, knowing what fate was bestowed upon her. She'd learned she was promised to the son of a befriended family, with the sole purpose of merging their wealth, which was common policy in trading families. Instead of becoming a housewife, she wanted to be free, just like her brother.

Brother and sister moved away from home when Eda turned 16, and was therefore old enough to marry. First staying in Cheshire itself, Edric taught his sister the art of stealing, at her own request. Not long after, they traveled to London, therefore permanently severing the bond with his family. It amused him dearly that his little sister had also defected from the Colton Family, though he feared she wouldn't be content with the life he lead. He enjoyed the life in London endlessly, where the purses were full and great in number. They were able to buy good food and sleep in a warm inn. What more could a man wish for? Unfortunately, Edrics expectation soon became reality; Eda became restless, and clearly longed for more.

   ·         … their adult years:

It was in 1188 that Eda came to him with the news that she wanted to join the Third Crusade, and was leaving for Jerusalem somewhat immediately. Edric didn't know why she would want that, but he was quick to join her. Not because he thought she needed protection -she'd proven to be able to care for herself in the past three years- but because the idea of a faraway land gave him an itch for adventure. The Crusade himself didn't interest him at all. He couldn't care less about who owned the Holy Land.

Eda told him she wanted to be a Templar knight, to actually do something with her life. She wanted to be remembered as more than “the wife of...” she never got accepted though, because she was a woman. It simply wasn't done at that time.

Instead, They continued the little business they started in London.

Acre proved to be a viable city full of possible clients. People could come to him for various jobs, including gathering information, infiltration, espionage and theft. Eda went a step further this time though, adding a few new options to the list: extortion, intimidation and assassination. Edric only found out about it after a while and was quite disgusted, especially by the latter. Though he didn't oppose her, he never took on those jobs himself. Instead, they passed jobs and contacts between each other, causing them to be a great team. They soon became a notorious pair and an underground power to take into account.

Their situation changed quite abruptly though. When his sister returned to take a break from a long-term job: gathering information from an Assassin before killing him, he noticed that she was acting rather strange and confused. The last time he saw her alive was when she left to finish the job.

Edric was left alone, and since he was the shy one of the two and Eda wasn't there to take on the killing assignments, he quickly lost most of his clientele, and was forced to earn his money the old-fashioned way: pickpocketing. That on itself wasn't much of a problem. He was good at it, and he didn't have to rely on others to do it. He missed Eda considerably, though she hadn't really been the kindest person, especially in the end, she was the only one who'd never given up on him, and saw him as an inspiration.

Because it was so quiet, he was quite eager to accept an assignment that seemed rather easy at first. He had to find someone called “Aetos Darien”, and gain as much intel as possible. It was a long-term assignment and he liked the challenge.

When he eventually figured out the man was the murderer of his sister, and no less than an Assassin, he was quick to cower back. Unfortunately, his client wasn't the type that would simply accept that, and not only his payment became at stake, but his life as well.

Present

Current place residence:
Acre
Describe their place of living: Either the streets or in inns if he was able to get enough money. that was usually the case.
Where did they live in the past, besides their initial home? He lived in London as well, before he and his sister went to the Kingdom of Jerusalem to sort of participate in the crusades.
How many times did they move? Many times. Since he'd left his home, he hasn't had any solid place to stay, going from inn to inn, town to town.
What effect did this leave on them? he didn't care. he enjoys the moment and doesn't seem to have any need for a solid place to stay.

Economic knowledge: Good. He's big in the underworld, doing jobs that aren't really allowed to see the light. He has a lot of connections, and knows to maintain them well.
Socioeconomic level: Lowest of the low. He lives on the streets, and lives off what he was able to make that day.
Finances: Dependent on the day, though most of the time he's able to provide for himself and his sister.
Are they rich or poor? Edric would say he's rich, but it's not determined by money. He's happy, and that's what counts.

Current culture: Medieval streetlife in Acre
What do they think of other cultures? He's very open. As long as they're nice to him, he'll never do anything to hurt others.

Are they married? no
Spouse(s)/Love interest(s): none

How did they discover their sexual orientation? He doesn't question it. It's the 12th century after all. He's never felt love, but that doesn't stop him from using over-earned money on some ladies of pleasure from time to time. And it's not to say that he never ended up in bed with a woman after he'd been drunk in a bar. That he likes to look at the naked torsos of men on hot days has never made him doubt, simply because he doesn't know any other way than the universal way.
Have they come out for it? no.
Is it considered weird by the character’s culture/relatives? yes, very. And punishable by death. By burning. Ouch.
Did the character accept this? yes

Love life:

How easily do they fall in love? not
How many lovers have they had? many
What personality are they looking for? nothing in particular
Have they been used before? ohh yes many times
If so, how and why? He's easy to threaten, and the people he deals with are quite shady after all. It's bound to go wrong from time to time. If this is about sexual using, he did end up getting robbed by several of those ladies of pleasure
Have they used someone before? probably, if you consider all the people he stole money from. If sexually, no.

Sex life:

Opinion on sex and sexuality: he's pretty carefree about that. Sex before marriage? What's marriage? About other orientations... he has no clue that they even exist. Nor that he's most certainly at least bisexual.
Are they still a virgin? No
When and how did they lose it? Lost it to a very nice Inn-keeper's daughter
How did this influence them? He probably doesn't think about it any more
How often do they have sex? ... depends on how much money he earns. Probably a couple of times per month. Let's say that he's familiar with all the ladies of pleasure in Acre, and he already knows what houses to avoid if he didn't want to end up with an itch.
With their own partner? he has none aww
Can they go without sex? For how long? he can. He has two hands of himself after all. Those ladies are considered a bonus
Would they have a one-night stand? yes.
Are they experimental? Not really.
What body type do they prefer for their sex partner? Male... haha but that's not going to happen.
Preferred position (dominant/submissive/don’t care/switch): dominant. he's quite a good lover. Though he can apreciate some change now and then.
Sexual turn-ons: actually getting a girl aroused.
Sexual turn-offs: fainting goats, faking, overacting
Sexual practices they refuse to do: anal? what is that? Oh and you mean to say there are people who like to shit in other peoples mouths? eww nasty.

Children: none

Pets: none

Friends: he has some. The people on the streets, but they are mainly superficial friendships. Later in the story, he kinda becomes friends with Aetos. It doesn't make things easier.
Information about them: Aetos is an Assassin of the Syrian order in Masyaf.
Are they still friends? They didn't separate peacefully.
Has this person had any significance in your character’s life? yes, a lot. He's quite a lot more depressed now.

Enemies: "enemies" is a harsh word, but he has quite a lot of people he has to avoid because they want him dead.
Information about them:
Templars were his initial clients. Because he failed to do his job correctly, he came on they "to kill"-list. Which forced him to take on yet another name and flee Acre.
Another large group of people that want him dead are the Assassins of Masyaf, since he pretty much was a spy who leaked essential information from them to the Templar order, which caused a lot of deaths. Even Aetos, whom he does consider a friend, has had the assignment to kill him.
Relationship with your character: bad, obviously.
Has this person had any significance in your character’s life? Well... yes. Quite a lot. The cheery, immature Edric made place for a wary, slightly depressed and fearful Edric in no more than one year time.

Other significant people:
Still his sister. And some kids from the streets, like Willow
Why? Every man needs people to care for. He's in need of simply some social life
Has this person had any significance in your character’s life? Eda? Of course. It was her idea to come to Acre after all. If she hadn't accepted a job from Templars, an lot of shitstorm would never have happened either. Willow will finally inspire him for a name of a son he's going to get in the future.

Current job(s)/occupation(s): Thief, conman, criminal, crook, pouchcutter, ... You get the picture
Why? He's lazy. For him it's an easy way to make big money and then spend the rest of the day at the pub or on some field to chill.
Do they like it? Yes. He ignores the moral conflicts going on in his head. He mostly goes for the rich people after all, but he'll never say that's to spare the poor people. the richer the man, the larger the pouch of course.
Salary: depends on the loot of the day
Place of Work: the streets of the town he resides in at that moment.
Work-related Skills: sneaking, disappearing in crowds, being discrete. He's a master liar, and has very quick hands. Picking locks is no problem with the right tools. He's got a good condition for fast sprints too.
Past Occupations: None. though his training was meant for him to become a monk
Other income: Main income: larger jobs like spying, infiltration, delivering messages, stealing valuables, ... Other income: pickpocketing

Hobbies: doing nothing. Sleeping, relaxing.
Are they member of any clubs? no

Other things they do in their spare time: Eating, drinking, women

Transportation:
By foot. Or he steals a hose. Or he buys a horse with stolen money. But mostly by foot.
Car: no. lol.
Cell phone: nope
Computer: negative
Other valuable things owned: The hidden blade is probably the most valuable thing he'll ever own. The ornamental dagger he has is nothing in comparison.

Death place: unknown. (His alias, Devon Graham, died in Masyaf, Syria)
Death circumstances: unknown. (His alias, Devon Graham, drowned after having jumped out of the Assassin's fort in Masyaf. It was that or being impaled by swords.)
How old were they when they died? Unknown (His alias, Devon Graham, was 25 years old)
Was it the absolute end? Or was there something after that? He took on a new name, and made everyone believe that Devon Graham was dead.

Mentality

Personality and skills

Summary of personality:

Edric has a laid-back attitude. Preferably just living from day to day. He hates being dependent, and therefore avoids bonding actual friendships unless it's business-related. It's hard for him to trust people too, regarding his past.

The reason he would never kill a person is because he wouldn't be able to repay said person, and he'd be forever indebted. It's a weird idea because, if we follow his reasoning, he'd owe all the people he'd ever stolen money from. He's quite vague about this point.

The alter-ego he created for undercover purposes, Devon Graham, is the goofy guy that's bad at reading facial expressions and estimating situations. He seems to always be happy and enjoys joking around. He's the guy that gets in trouble and falls down stairs. By making this personage, he's able to make people talk, since they'd never really expect any intelligence would be hiding behind that goofy grin of his.

People couldn't be more wrong of course. He's got a great memory and is constantly taking in information.

In general, who or what influenced their personality to become as it is now? His parents, brothers and sister. His sister to the greatest extend.
Jung personality: ISFP
Enneagram: 6w5

Strengths: He's great at acting, perceiving situations, reading emotions, taking in information, sneaking soundlessly, dissapearing, stealing, running away
Weaknesses: He can't swim, and is a terrible fighter.
How were they influenced in this? Being a bad fighter caused him to be beat up many times. Not being able to swim nearly killed him once.

Fears: heights, water, people with bad intentions, dying
Why? Those seems righteous and sane things to fear.
How were they influenced in this? Well he shall never climb a building needlessly, or come near water. Causes him to be quite smelly on hot days.

Phobias: He's got an extreme fear of heights, and of drowning.
Why? It's just very scary to him. and because of recent events, his fear seems justified.
How were they influenced in this? Becoming an assassin was a hard thing to do this way. Especially the initiation was hell.

Mental/emotional traumas: His family constantly putting him down and treating him like a failed, broken object that should be ignored scarred him pretty bad.
Why? Well it's not nice when you're not loved or appreciated.
How were they influenced in this? He has a hard time to make actual friend that go further than just business-related stuff. Also he's really almost never going to let people know the actual him. They most likely never get past the cheery, always-happy Edric.

Worst thing that can happen to this character: Someone taking away his freedom. Or dying. Hmmm.
Best thing that can happen to this character: Being carefree for the rest of his life, never having to worry about work or money.

Mental state: Good
Sanity: Quite alright
Mental illness(es): slightly depressed in the end, bonding issues
Why? Because of an extreme feeling of guilt
Are they getting treatment? Is alcohol a treatment?
How were they influenced in this? he cut all ties with Aetos and Acre, and went to travel Europe. Setting his mind off things was needed. After a while, he'd end up in Greece with a one-handed son and a monkey.

Intelligence: high
Are they street smart or book smart? both (was taught from books, became experienced on the streets)
What, besides school, contributed to their intelligence? No school. Homeschooling and street knowledge
Strong intellectual qualities: reading, writing, basic maths, geography, psychology, anthropology, theology
Weak intellectual qualities: sciences, healing

Everyday habits: sleeping out, eating a lot, the occasional job/pickpocket, more food, chilling, drinking, sleeping in
Personal rituals: Same I guess. It's like a mantra.

Self-control: weak. When he gets emotional, he can lose it really. Especially when he's feared. Also he doesn't know when to stop drinking.
General Temperament: gentle, kind, docile. Strange traits for a criminal actually.
What angers them? Seeing injustice. (as a thief that strange, innit?) We've seen him angry when women get hit. Not many other occasions are known. He can also get worked up when his lies aren't believed, but it's no more than acting as a last resort to seen credible.
Self-esteem: moderate to low
Optimist/pessimist: Very much an optimist. In words at least. "I'm lucky" is a sentence he chants after each bad thing that happens. Lucky it wasn't worse. It's like he tries to convince himself.

Drives and Motivations: Money. With the ultimate goal to be happy and carefree
Dreams: Being happy and carefree.
Good Characteristics: He would never take advantage of people. He hates being indebted to people so he'll always try to pay them back.
Character Flaws and Quirks: He hates being in peoples dept. He tried to pay them back to the level it can be dead annoying. Ask Aetos. He knows what I'm talking about. He's also a coward.
Pet peeves: Authority figures, evil people
Accomplishments: ... ouch. Not much I fear. But he doesn't have much ambition so it doesn't matter. He did get get quite big in the underworld at some point, but since he had to leave Acre and traveled Europe, he didn't have time to make new contacts so he got mainly reduced to a traveling pickpocket.

Faith/religion: sceptic Christian
Why? because Atheïst get killed

When don’t they feel at ease? In dangerous situations.
What embarrasses them? Doing clumsy things. Because yes, he's clumsy.
What depresses them? Being a burden
What makes them laugh? Anything funny
What makes them cry? I've never seen him cry, except one time, when he heard his sister had died.

Eating habits: Lots. And preferably meats and fruits. Bread is nice too. And cheese. But his all-time favorite will always be dried sausage. Or wet sausage. Any type of sausage really. Big or small, soft or hard. As long as it's a sausage he's happy. (laugh uncontrollably now, because the double meaning is entirely intended)

Sleeping habits: lots. Even when he's not tired. Naps, lots of naps.

Do they smoke? not regularly. but he did try those nice and relaxing pipes when he was in Syria
How often? not often
What? Hashish (cannabis haha)

Do they drink? Ohh yes
How often? Every day. Apart from the period when he was in Masyaf. Syrians don't drink, apparently.
What? Mead, the occasional wine,

Do they do drugs?
I won't count the hashish, since tabacco wasn't even introduced as an alternative. So no.

Are they addicted to any of the above? Probably to the alcohol. But he didn't seen to have a too bad cold turkey when he was suddenly deprived of it.
Any other addictions? Sausage...
Why? He thinks it's fun to put them in his mouth. And they taste good.

Secrets: He's as spy. His name is actually not Devon Graham.
Darkest Secret:
He's actually quite tired of Eda's bossiness, and wants to part ways with her. He'd never do that of course.
Does anyone else know their secret?
If yes, how did that person find out? The first two get found out, yes. But up until now no one has figured out the last one.
How would they react if this secret were to be known? He'd cower away in fear.

Man, I can't believe I actually finished this.

So this is an über complete profile for my OC. I don't expect anyone to read it, lol. It was a good for me to get to know him a littl ebetter, though some of the answers got really repetitive I'm afraid, sorry about that.

I also deleted a couple of options which were completely irrelevant to him. Like number of arms, to possibility of a tail, wings, etc.

Heh. Still pretty elaborate, no?
